The client works daily with concrete—and his vision was to create his family home out of this robust material. We designed a double-storey home, with a focus on open living, entertainment and natural light.

Design response
The design process balanced architectural integrity with residential context. Careful orientation and landscaping enhanced light, function and appearance. The entrance is calm and welcoming, and strong indoor-outdoor connections sustain this atmosphere throughout.
Design overview
We approached spatial design with light, open living and connectivity in mind:
- Multiple terraces, a two-level plunge pool, and a deck at the rear offer versatile spaces for living and entertaining.
- The deck also has spaces for sports, outdoor cooking and floating sundecks, complemented by vivid landscape design.
- Indoor gardens feature throughout the floorplan, enhancing natural light and providing a contrast to the concrete walls.
- A central curved staircase connects the open living and entertainment space with the private second level with four bedrooms. The staircase is framed by a multi-stepped indoor garden and a large round skylight.
- Timber elements, like full-height door panels and a seamlessly integrated timber kitchen, add warmth and soft curves to the concrete shell.
- Sliding doors and transparent fixed glass elements connecting indoor spaces to nature.
